  • what nice natural ability! No wonder she is a champ!

  • every horse can canter. lunge her... she'll canter.

  • iknow whatcha mean. my speed horse shadrack is a standardbred al the way

  • I really can't answer that I never wanted mine to canter. May be she likes to trot better. I know they can canter. I have a pacer bred who also would only trot, but we have her Racking & Steping pacing now. All my Stb's are pacer bred, but trot in the field.

  • Thanks for the response. My mare is 17 now. We got her when she was 9 of a rental string, the poor thing! Xena only paces when she gets hyper, and then only a couple steps. She has a tremendous trot, though, even though she's from pacing stock. Can you tell me why she can't canter? EVER!

  • Thank you. Fancy turned 14 this year we weaned a filly off of her a month ago. I rode her this evening and she is as good as she ever was. Nope Standardbreds rule Speed Racking. :)

  • How old is she? What a mare! I have her relative, Miss Escada. Her grandpappy was Albatross, horse of the year twice. I was delighted to see that Standardbreds were being shown as racking horses; I had no idea--I thought they were all saddlebreds and the like! :)

  • Thanks you all very much. I must say retiring her was heart breaking, but I had to retire her for her. I think she misses the show ring, but she has a beautiful filly to take care of.

  • Beautiful

  • Amazing & beautiful horse
