An Ozarks mother says her son is being discriminated against at school and she's working hard to keep him in class. The mother says the problem lies in the guidelines inside the Springfield Public School's student handbook.

Fashionable jeans, purses and the latest trend in make-up may not be unusual for many high school girls, but for an Ozarks student, it is causing some controversy.

Vladimir Moran Miller says he's been fighting to be normal all his life.

  • They don't want to discourage diversity? Horse shit. Of course they are discouraging diversity, by leveraging some stupid school dress code of all things. But then indeed, this is the same State that brings us the lowest educational standard in the nation.

  • I changed my name to Amira

  • change your name to Vanessa, Vladimir.

  • Vladimir's dress is neither revealing or offensive. Springfield's representative is doing what school administrators typically do: give such answers as to deflect criticism regardless of whether it is deserved (which it is) and whether it is cowardly (which is also the case). I'm not so sure that Vladimir prefers to be called a "he." Has the reporter taken this into account? Knowing the Bible Belt mentality, probably not. Vladimir may already have a female name that hasn't been given here.

  • @namitsu1 No problem! I'm all for educating others! :)

  • @Zephur19 Ah thanks for clearing that up. I appreciate your effort to answer my question/remark. :)

  • That's discrimination! People should wear whatever they want and in whatever they feel comfortable. Listen to your body and spirit.

  • @namitsu1 I know this is a very late response lol but in any case, sometimes, regardless of outward appearance may be, the trangendered person may prefer to be called by their birth gender. As a transsexual (changing of gender physically) I preferred to be called by my birth gender until I myself got used to the whole idea of changing. Eventually the appropriate pronouns are preferred.

  • ugh SUE them...for WHATEVER you can. Dont stop til these idiots are FORCED to change their policy. No one should be put down for what they feel. Friggin psychos...

  • Why can they just get the fact that they can't change people?

  • @owensside Could be like my mom, who just says, she just never thinks about using female pronouns, even if I am dressed as a woman. I know my mom tries but she does not see me often enough to get use to the idea.
