On November 15, 2010, kidSKAN played host to Dr. Paul Kershaw, a political scientist from the University of British Columbia, and a co-investigator in HELP: the Human Early Learning Partnership research project. The highlight of Dr. Kershaw's visit was this engaging and thought-provoking talk on the social end economic benefits Saskatchewan stands to gain by instituting "Smart Family Policy."
The entire talk is about one hour long, but we've broken it up into 5 more digestible chunks. In this segment, Dr. Kershaw talks about how children's vulnerability rate is too high (27%) in Saskatchewan and what this costs society, and the economy in the long run -- an early years vulnerability debt equal to $117 billion over 50 years.
