Thanks for the info. I took mine start in to a tech and asked him to set it up to float (I had it set so it would not go up in pitch) I asked him if he could set it so it would go up a whole step and he looked at me weird. Anyway I got it back it it was way out of tune and it changed pitch on me. So I went to youtube and found this... now I understand. I think they just kinda changed the strings, kinda set it and called it good. Back to the drawing board. Thanks.

great overview thanks. question: if I have it set flat on the body, doesn't that mean the guitar will stay in tune if a string breaks? if it floats when a string breaks the lack of tension will make it flat against body, which means the whole thing is now out of tune. correct?

That was fabulous! Thank you very much.

Helpful stuff! Is the trem bar/arm a bit arced or curved or something? Mine is straight and sometimes hits the switch tip. Is that an adjustment people can make?

Thanks for putting this together, my strat style bridge plays amazing now!
Yes I bent the arm. I did it in a vise. Don't try it on the guitar. you might break the arm mount. It takes a little trial and error to get it where you want it. Good luck!

what are the names of the chords you are playing, I can't really tell with your fingers in the way, I think I saw a C and a G

@leachim6 I don't read music, but I think they're E, G, C, F, Maybe an F minor, A, and D.

Thanks for this.. I just got a Classic Player 60's that the previous owner had tightened down flush.. so hard that the trem arm literally did nothing even with lots of pressure. Watching this gave me the confidense to try to set up the floating bridge and it came out fine.. Took 40 minutes or so of tinkering but the guitar is playing great now and stays in tune.. (it's a 2 point trem)
BTW, I like your Strat.. you finish it that way?

@turbokevin Glad I could help you out. Once you take the plunge it's not so bad. The strat I have came out of the trash. The body was broken into about 20 pieces. The body it has now is a Warmoth alder body. I did the paint job and put it all togeather with a new pickguard and some vintage pickups I had laying around. It plays great and sounds good too.
