Nice video - good work! When have you been there? Summer last year there was still a bumpy dustroad leading up to Ganden - when did they pave all this?

hi we were there in late may 2007 and i heard that the road was fairly recent. they're also building another police station right next to the monastery- ganden is often where protests start and then spread so them commies want to keep an eye on things.

Ganden Monastery, a long drive on dust laden roads, now made concrete, sitting on the side of a hill - like a sentinel of rock.

Monks walk up ancient stairs the occassional clap sounds as they ascend. Shartse College is indicated by an arrow. And a guesthouse with painted decorations, wash stand and mirror toward a verandah where one gains the most beautiful view of the whole monastery and the valley beyond.
