Tony Tiedemann Named Person of the Year by Project We Remember

Chandler's Tony Tiedemann was named "Person of the Year" by Project We Remember on Saturday, October 23 at the organization's 1st Annual Remember the Night event at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale.

Mr. Tiedemann, whose philanthropic efforts have supported Project We Remember for three years, shared the honor with Keller-Williams Realtors, PWR's Corporation of the Year.

Tiedemann, 41, president and founder of Tiedemann Globe, Inc., founded Loved Ones Lost in 2006.

Loved Ones Lost, a Phoenix-based non-profit organization, helps families of soldiers who have died in combat (and homeless and hospitalized service members). In 2009, Loved Ones Lost gave over $30,000 to Veterans' organizations.

"Tony is a man with a great heart," said Vernon Bagley, founder and president of Project We Remember, a Scottsdale-based organization dedicated to helping those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. Nearly 200 patriotic guests attended the event for cocktails and dinner at the organizations primary fund raiser, which brought together the community with the men and women who serve them.

When he started Loved Ones Lost Tiedemann said the only way he could think to help those in need was to use his expertise in the used clothing business to raise money for non profit organization. "I'm humbled to be in a room with so many brave people," Tiedemann said.

Project We Remember's primary purpose is to raise funds for individuals and non-profit organizations that provide support to our military men and women when they and their families are in need beyond that which is provided by their respective service branch. Project We Remember has provided a significant positive effect on the daily lives and the morale of our service personnel.

Guests enjoyed music courtesy of the 108th Army Band from the 253rd Engineer Battalion, and a presentation by our keynote speaker, local philanthropist and mountain guide Kevin Cherilla. Cherilla has been to the summit of Mt. Everest and led 10 teams of hikers to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. He just returned from a climbing trip to Nepal with 16 veteran soldiers.

In addition, U.S. Army Major General (retired) Chuck Swannack gave a brief presentation. MG Swannack served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and led elements of the division in the advance to Baghdad and in the succeeding year in western Iraq. MG Swannack, a 1971 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, served in progressive leadership and staff positions throughout his distinguished career.
