This is the second of two videos I decided to make showing a do-it-yourself way to fix your Westinghouse LCD TV when you suddenly lose the video (the TV screen goes black but the audio remains). The issue is most probably the Power Supply Board also known as the Inverter Board. Find out here how you can fix your TV without the help from Westinghouse's terrible customer service. I did it and so can you! (the first video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azNXIWZI7g0 )

  • Just because it's Westinghouse...doesn't mean it was made in the USA nor that it is "American" technology

  • @Lionhart2x true that

  • I have the same TV and fixed the problem for $35. everyone won't have the same problem but look for burnt parts and bulging capacitors. I soldered in a transformer(1 of 3 black rectangles) it had bubbled plastic and burn marks.(can be found for $20-30 Ebay, etc.) and 2 or 3 capacitors from Radio Shack. I also have never tore open a TV before this. just a heads up.. might save some people $100 with basic soldering. good luck everyone!

  • @gookzilla420 Yeah. It's normally the capacitors that burned on the board but for some people (me included) it would be harder to solder transformers and capacitors than to buy a whole new board. I also read in some forums about people that went that way and in the end they still had to but the whole board because the problem was beyond capacitors. But I'm happy that you solved your problem and paid even less. Great work!

  • lol just dont buy american technology and u dont have to buy such things

  • @gunit8590 We only bought it because at the time we couldn't afford anything better.

  • please respond... anyone, but my issue is with a 60' westinghouse, and whats going on is the top half of the screen starts to flash like a strobe, but after a while it will stop for a long time, then start again and go for a while... am i just experiencing the starting stages of what everyone else is getting? the start of the ""black out"" im kinda thinking i lost a capacitor or something, to afraid to open it up... :/

  • I have a 42" westinghouse tv and the same problem. I was going to thrash it and buy a $ 1,200.00 new the tv (Samsung) after seeing your video I will try to save some money and go to the same route. Thanks a million.

  • you replaced the board with a new one, you never "fixed" the board

  • Thank you for thinking about us. I believe that are many peoples with this problem out there. just 2 thinks, that board is actually the backlight inverter board not the power board and in the first part when you refered to transistors, they are just simple connectors for the ccfl lamps. They cary high voltage when the tv is plugged - be awere.

  • @ozzywalls I'm not sure. i'm not a professional. but yes it does sound like a capacitor is failing. or something is overheating and causing it to shut off.

  • @gookzilla420

Hi i have the same TV but it works for like 5 min then it shut off is this the same problem with the power board?

  • Thank you so very much for this video and positive information! I too am a Westinghouse victim and our TV is identical to yours and after nothing but bad news it was such a relief to see this video! Your truly resourceful and clever! I contacted customer service at retechtv.com and they were excellent! Hats off to you! Thank you!
