Danny Woodhead gets leveled during a 2011 Patriots vs. Bucs pre-season. Definitely a dirty hit----fine coming soon! DO NOT HIT WITH YOUR HEAD, unless your name is B. Meriweather, haha!
@zacfili Actually it isn't legal to blind side somebody helmet to helmet like this either. When a player is either engaged with another player, or chasing a ball carrier and struck from the side as in this case the NFL has ruled that they also count as defenseless. Any defenseless player cannot be struck helmet to helmet.
They really are trying to eliminate all helmet to helmet contact- Just because it is not spelled out directly in the rule book doesn't mean that they will not act on it :/
@tcdyacks helmet to helmet hits are legal dumb fuck, they arent on defenseless receivers, and qb's, during blocking plays such as special teams or when a player is running wit hthe ball they are perfectly legal
I think the way he's going about it is wrong. The hit that Mason Foster did earlier in the game will probably get fined as well, even though it looked more like a shoulder hit and it got flagged as if it were helmet to helmet.
It's one thing if it was intentional and different if it wasn't. Harrison, Pitts deserves those fines because he DOES launch his helmet at other players. There should have been a flag on the Cribbs hit last year, not a defenseless player, but spearing.
If someone gets hit and cant take it.. then they dont belong out there. if a receiver goes over the middle and gets blasted and takes the hit; then he belongs out there. putting in rules to protect players lets dudes who arent that good be good since they dont have to worry about getting hit.. like i said goodells ruining football
Thats not a cheap shot. Woodhead was involved in the play and could have made that tackle.
