Spielberg's fourth film, labeled a flop only because it wasn't as successful as Jaws or Close Encounters. It's still pretty good (way better than A.I.). It chronicles the paranoia and blind patriotism that gripped the west coast after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and seems oddly familiar in today's political climate. John Belushi plays Wild Wayne Kelso (changed to Wild Bill by the time principle filming began). Dan Aykroyd provides the narration.

Definitely not Spielberg's worst movie, that honor goes to Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull.

One of my favorite movies since my childhood, and one of the few slapstick type comedies that I ever cared for. I'm old enough to remember when it came out, and I built several of those 1941 "Wild Bill" P-40 plastic models. A much under appreciated movie.

I think what is most helpful for all Americans is not to get into a "pissing match" over which country is more evil. We just need to know the facts and make sure we are making decisions based on those facts. The fact is pretty clear that our government is responsible for the death of millions of civilians from all the wars going back to WWI. Our government has produced more weapons of mass destruction and has sold those to many of the countries that we end up attacking later.

google american firebombing of Japan, and will also find that the Americans killed close to 100k civilians and devastated 67 Japanese cities. It is true that the Japanese did horrible and unspeakable things, but most Americans are essentially clueless to the atrocities that have occurred. The myth that dropping the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki dies hard as well, Hirohito had been trying to negotiate a peace treaty after the firebombing.

Spielberg has had some great funny gags in his movies over the years but a full out comedy is something he wasn't able to pull off (and hasn't tried since either). Oh well, even a genius can have limitations.

We are a country of pill popping losers. We have a evil Government thats run by donations to politicians by the Greedy rich corporate pigs!
We can out evil any country in every way! So every other 'Evil Nation' better watch their ass cause our evil Country will come in and destroy them if they get in our way.
They say we didnt learn from 'Nam" but we did. We learned how to invade, rape, steal, and destroy other Nations and we took that info and did it again and again!
