  • ocelot is the best

  • @visno i do care, i know those are marines, im just saying that "solider" is also used to describe military men and women as well, the person who commented saying "i thought marines are the best soldiers" or whatever he said, he was right to describe them as soldiers, he knew they are marines and so did i, but you were so fired up and heated about, to the point you ignore dictionary definitions and the fact that the word "solider" and "army" are general terms

  • @VoteSkipper its quite clear that you really dont know the term nor do you care to learn the term if you are going to continue to argue about it. as i said before, why dont you go find a marine and ask him if he is a soldier. if hes nice he'll just say no, if hes not, you are going to get yelled at for calling him a soldier. be my guest and try it for yourself.

  • @visno well the thing is your ignoring the other definitions, they are not useless otherwise they wouldnt add them, they are all correct, enlisted person = solider, im not say solider is not part of land military, i never said it is not, but you cant ignore the fact that the word solider has always used to describe military and enlisted people

  • @VoteSkipper ok first of all, when the FIRST definition, which is typically the most common and correct definition says that you are wrong, you should take that as a sign that you are wrong. also ARMY is not a blanket term for a military force. ARMY is clearly defined as a land component of armed forces in almost all dictionaries. all these definitions you are pulling up clearly say ARMY in definition 1, and then later add to it by saying enlisted person. marines are marines. period

  • @visno glad you saw it, did you read number 2 and 3?

    2. An enlisted person or a noncommissioned officer.

    3. An active, loyal, or militant follower of an organization.

    and an army is also a blanket term, but lets look at anthor dictionary;

    1.a person who serves in an army; a person engaged in military service.

    they didnt say a person WHO ONLY serves in an army, it was a blanket term, how but this;

    2.an enlisted man or woman, as distinguished from a commissioned officer

    "ENLISTED", get it?

  • @VoteSkipper that would be because both surgeons and dentists have DOCTORS OF MEDICINE (M.D.) and thus are both doctors because of it. the definition that you posted earlier but deleted even said ARMY in it.

  • @visno they are many jobs out there that use a general term like a doctor, but there are different, a brain surgeon is different then a dentist but they are both doctors. and SEALs are soldiers, because they wear a uniform and follow orders, sailors are part of the military, look up any dictionary

  • @VoteSkipper firstly, SEALs are sailors, not soldiers. as i said previously, just because YOU are comfortable using the word SOLDIER wrong, doesnt make your usage of the term correct. why don't you go find a marine and ask him if he is a soldier. i can guarantee you he will say he is a marine.

  • @VoteSkipper marines and soldiers do not wear the same uniform. so no i would not call a marine a soldier. again, your ignorance on the subject doesnt make your statement right. if you want a blanket term, "military personnel" is the term you are looking for.
