WARNING: This video shows how to render (deflesh) a skull and antlers from a harvested deer's head to make what is commonly known as a Dry Skull, Dessert, European, Texas, or Western Mount. It can seem to be quite a gruesome process. All attempts to respect decorum have been attempted. Inappropriate comments or response videos will be deleted.

Part 1 covers starting with the harvested animal, a typical plaque, discusses set-up and basic methods, the bone overview and starts the processing.

  • Your videos are great. I have recently harvested my first buck and I was considering doing a dry skull mount and I would greatly appreciate it if you would post a more in depth video on making the plaque because it is very nice, thanks!

  • I just have what you see. I didn't shoot very much of the process sine most people just buy one. The reason I went to the trouble of making one was 1) had the wood in the garage and need to do something with it - this was as good as anything (if we ever leave we can take a bit of the place with us) and 2) I wanted one big enough to add the date plate. Most plaques you see on the internet and ebay are rather small (no room for the brass plate).

    Sorry :-( I can't help much there.

  • Do you rinse off the peroxide cream after your desired whiteness or brush it off? Thanks.

  • I don't use the cream form. I use the solution form and immerse it. Yes, I rinse it afterward to stop it from continuing to work/breach the bone.

  • Damn dude, you're voice is deceptive (No offense) You sound like a good-ol-giddyup-copenhagen type, but after the summer sausage videos, and all others i'm curious. Is there anything you DON'T know how to do, lol.

Keep em' comin. You're truly the shit!

  • Thanks. A man has got to have his hobbies to keep him out of trouble you know. And you know what they say, even a blind hog can find an acorn every now and again.

  • Rinse it off. Garden hose works....or take to the local carwash and use one of the pressure wands.

  • Great stuff, as usual! 8^)

  • thanks for posting these vids i allways wondered how this was done

  • thank you

  • Nice buck! Congrats and thanks for another informative and entertaining video.
