The big moment for BBC´s international viewers. After years of waiting, they have finally pressed the 16:9 button.

First wide opening with David Eades and Lucy Hockings.

See when and how they changed widescreen format (0:04).

  • The 16:9 format is on BBC World News Europe with black letterbox on top and bottom on your television screen.

  • your cable or iptv provider probably didn´t switched it to properly format. digital satellite viewers can switch format, which they want (fully wide, wide in 4:3 with letter box or cropped to 4:3.

  • only on Livestation... oh!

here in the Philippines, still in 14:9...

  • it was recorded from Europe, Astra satelite 19.2E

  • oh how fortunate European viewers...

and it's much more clearer in 16:9.

  • i think it will come to philippines/taiwan/malaysia region soon.

ex. bbc entertaimnent for taiwan broadcasts in wide screen and european viewers have similar tv channel called bbc prime still in 4:3 format

  • i do that for bwbc

  • In Latin America still 14:9

  • Hi there, to properly watch this video in 16:9, could add the tag (without apostrophes) "yt:stretch=16:9" ? It would stretch the 4:3 bit to widescreen but at least we could see the channel in widescreen!

  • Info, if your turn your satellite dish antenna to Hot Bird 6 or Astra 1L Satellites, you will receive BBC World News in the United Kingdom free.

  • In my country, United Kingdom, BBC World News doesn't available and replaced by BBC News. I think many satellite television providers in Europe are receive BBC World News in 16:9 widescreen format.

  • well im sure the weather girl is pleased its very slimming!

  • asia has turned to 16:9

  • its in 16:9 in Australia it looks great, funny how BBCWN goes wide-screen before all the local Sky News operated channels did
