In this video, educators at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS; Quechee, VT) flight train a harris' hawk. The hawk is part of the educational programs and outreaches. While the hawk flies freely in our programs, in this video the educators have him tethered (creance) for training purposes. I got to see the Harris hawk demo a couple of years ago when my sister was up for a visit. We were both very impressed with that and the showing of the other hawks and owls. Well worth visiting if you are ever here to visit.
