Workers from the General Motors assembly plant in Bogota, Colombia have been leaving the company with occupational diseases for years. A courageous group of workers have asserted that this should not be happening. After fighting their individual cases for 3-4 years they decided that they would be stronger united, and formed the association ASOTRECOL. On August 2, 2011 they began a peaceful protest in front of the U.S. embassy in Bogota, Colombia, to bring visibility to their situation. They have spent almost a year enduring the rain and hunger, their families enduring hunger at home. Thanks to pressure from ASOTRECOL, GM Colombia has changed how they run the assembly line. They have begun to rotate the workers and install equipment to do the heavy lifting. GM Colombia refuses to resolve the situation of the 12 workers who are challenging their abuses, they are playing a waiting game and trying to force the workers to give up out of desperation.

When will all workers get it, united we stand, divided we fall. Hold your unions responsible!

This what NAFTA & CAFTA has been allowed to do. Take jobs overseas to other counrties & the new workers get treated like slaves with illnesses. This happens all over the world. Instead of Globally, it's called slavery!
