  • In 1998, I built one of these that ran on my kitchen stove burner. It had (9) 30mm TEM cells mounted to a ducted heatsink from an old mainframe computer. The power from the cells ran a 12VDC fan when my stoves burner was turned on. I wanted to use it on the back of my wood stove, but I was afraid of melting the cells. The cells use very low melting temperature alloys which have been purified and then doped to give them opposing valance charges.

  • What is the maximum voltage that can be obtained?

  • @ArtistBlade1972 in this small experiment (small module) you could have 5 to 6 volts but it's better to take a 100 w module you can have 12 volts (but becareful "melting the cells" )

  • let say you make thermocouple sharp as a needle, poke that into a light-bulb. the energy you harness from the heat will be much more efficient?

    Is it possible that 1000 of there device share the same heat and cold source will produce more power?

  • Just a little info to dovetail TEG technology.

    The big TEGs need 750 degrees to make good power for deep cycle battery charging.

    A solar tough is capable of heating oil around 750 degrees, according to my research.

    It would seems possible to heat circulating oil in a home made solar trough, use hot oil to power a set of TEG's. Will need a cooling tank W/ circulating liquid to cool other plate.

    Seems like a possible home power unit, maybe.

  • How about using it with a fresnel Lens, or under a compost heap.

  • Well done! Imagine having at hand a shot spring with high temperature... and some river with normal ambient temperatures... One could assemble an isntallation to produce power. Although low voltage, it could be useful.
