Microsoft Project Gustav

This is rare. Microsoft actually making something cool.

Project Gustav is a realistic painting-system prototype.
It achieves interactivity and realism by leveraging the computing power of modern GPUs, taking full advantage of multitouch and tablet input technology and natural media-modeling and brush-simulation algorithms.

Basically, you use real brush on a plastic-pad and smudge with your finger on a touch-screen.
