I am a MMA fighter I take Judo, Sambo, BJJ, Boxing, and Muay Thai. I still wish I knew more What I'm saying that there is no such thing as the best style, but there might be a perfect style or styles for you.

@nightsmock They would be improved, and they have been improved, newer styles have been made and are better, but people still use old, less effective methods.

Tae Kwon Do is utilized by one of the top special forces in the word: The White Tiger 707. Even US Rangers and Special Forces go train with them so they can learn a thing or two from them. Also during the Vietnam War, the Korean army was extremely notorious for their effective hand-to-hand combat.

@nightsmock I would have to disagree. Martial arts such as Taekwon Do would still be terribly ineffective. Jumping 10 feet in the air and executing a tellegraphed kick does nothing.

I am a practitioner of BJJ (I have been doing it a little over a year now) and I can tell you right now, BJJ by itslef, is increadably ineffective, however if used CORRECTLY with other martial arts it becomes extreemly effective. BJJ fighters don't know how to take/give strikes, deal with multipule attackers, guns, knives, improvised weapons, so many holes in the BJJ game.
