'There is something to be said for creating a perfect track (finished stuff, with production values to the max), stuff which always make me slightly envious because I'll never be able to compete with that. But there is also something to be said for the direct live raw recording of the truly emotional/creative moment. The latter being the case with 'a friendship long gone'. ~ Max Qubit
Written in the key of C minor, a long time favourite of me, this tune is heavy on melancholy. I've been stuck on C minor (and A minor) for years before venturing into other keys, but I decided to revisit C minor. The tune came automatically, like an old friend. Sat down to record a decent version, to 'save' the tune from disappearing into virtual heaven. Virtual heaven, where all non-recorded, non-saved and accidentally-deleted stuff resides:)
This recording is not perfect, but it IS very 'Max Qubit'. It is my preferred way of spending some time with the keyboard/piano. People mention the emotion of the piece. It is the same emotion I felt when playing this, the awesomeness of just making music. I hope and wish everybody else would feel the same emotion when creating their own musical stuff, in whatever genre that may be. Happy music making to ya all:)
A friendship long gone.
