@laspilly The technique for decreasing is similar or the same for many techniques. It all depends on what you are making and where the decreases look the best. I have found that making the decrease just before the last stitch looks nicer than making it right on the edge. It is up to you and what you like the best. There are many different ways to accomplish the same end goal.

Hi again Teresa, I figured it out. Please disregard my previous message. It's late and I couldn't get my mind to clarify what the author was saying until I read it over and over. Thanks again

Hi Teresa, I am a beginner to crocheting. I'm following a pattern by Red Heart for a visor cap. It reads dec, sc in next 6 sc. I understand the decreasing but the pattern author has a note that says: DEC (decrease) = draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. Please explain what author is talking about. And thank you for your easy to follow tutorials...Kudos to you!

but maybe it means to do it 3 times

why does the decreasing always show holes? i'm making a sackboy and whenever im decreasing it always shows holes. please help!

The pattern I'm doing says "dec over next 2 sc around" What exactly does these mean.. I know I'm decreasing i'm just not sure if i do the decrease twice? Please help..

@HuMaNxBloOD The best answer will come from the pattern author if that is possible. My interpretation is that you are doing single crochet decrease all the way around since it says "dec over next 2 sc around". I hope that makes sense.

you know what? I think the light just went on for me? I think the 2(3) combination refers to "2 or 3"; in other words, single crochet together 2 or three stitches together.

@rebeccabasenfelder A decrease can be two or three stitches together.
