ohhh thank u so much!ive been trying to find a decent video all night about how to do ribbing and finally i came across urs!its clear and even i can understand it lol. still having problems though but thats only cos i have such yarn where u cant see bumps so if i lose concentration i forget if im supposed to purl or not lol.

im not sure what im doing wrong, but the front side a i get the ribbed effect but flip it over and the stitches all look the same - purl looking

Thank you!!!! I understood the concept of knit 1 purl 1 to get ribs, but it was making all these crazy loops on the needle... I didn't realise you need to switch the new thread front and back each time. It works now!

what kind of yarn is that?

Oh man, why'd you have to ask that?? This yarn is some ultra cheap-o stuff I picked up in Vienna a few years back. It's 50/50 wool/fake. The brand name is Steinbach Wolle and the yarn's name is Export.
