  • Well----actually I did make the jump and I'm trying not to think about the cost. It's been a great relief for me as I wasn't ready to retire when I did, but I've got to take care of my wife.

I'm a thinker and I needed an outlet for my engineering skills. I've designed and built a couple of track cleaning cars that should take care of the debris that animals and birds leave on the rails. When I finish the track work, I'll have three independent loops so I can contemplate the machines running

  • Well, first off, I own more than 100 newer locomotives that would cost two arms and a leg to put sound receivers in. I'm retired so there's no income----yes if you'll send me lots of money----This rail road has been operating since the 70's and with zero problems. I've just kept expanding on it. Right now I'm building a garden layout and I wish I hadn't. People are driving the price up so far it's too expensive to consider. Plus you have to hunt for used equipment. This winter I'll do vid

  • Well, I suggest you check out my other videos as I explain the set up. I HAD the layout wired for eight cabs, but as I slip into old age I've combined a number of cabs to ease the stress on my old mind should anything breakdown. After nearly thirty years I'm pleased to report that everything's fine to date. Last October I tried to make the switch to DCC, but have yet been able to get it to operate. I would have lost more than I would have gained.

  • Yes you do! There are two major freight yards, Bluington and Redford. Bluington yard makes up trains for Bluington, Blackstone, Greensboro interchange, Amberton and the Redford yard. Redford yard makes up trains for Redford branch,Whitney, Brownsville, Orangeburg, and the Bluington yard. All 200 plus freight cars are in motion.

  • HO scale. thanks it's been fun to build this. just finishing up this layout and will put up more videos in near future.

  • NICE LAYOUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks! it takes about fifteen minutes to make the loop at normal speeds.

  • After selling off all the G scale stuff (after shipping fees & such), I ended up with roughly $1,500 to start purchasing HO scale stuff. I did a great deal of research, saved a ton on buying good used stuff (as good as new), picked up a lot of nice new products & I'm at the point where I'm ready to start my layout. I just can't figure out where to start? I decided to start building my structures & then lay the track according to that? My main interest is intermodal & industrial scenery.

  • I hear what you're saying when it comes to things costing and arm & a leg today. It's a real shame how much things have gone up in this hobby. If you want any type of decent garden scale railroad, you have to take a second mortgage on the home just to pay for it. I actually started out with G scale when I first got back into the hobby recently, but quickly discovered my physical limitations and wallet couldn't handle it, thus the reason for going back to HO scale. To be continued...

  • Sorry, ran out of text room on the previous post, lol. I love your layout & it looks realistic. Where is the sound coming from on your video? My train room is roughly 24' x 11.5' & I plan to use every inch of that, lol. My layout is far from video worthiness but, as soon as it's ready, I'll post some videos for y'all to enjoy. I've returned to the hobby after 30 years & absolutely love all the new products out there with so much realism. Thanks for sharing the videos!

  • I think simple DC operation is just fine. I also do DC operation & have no interest in running DCC. I have one of those railroad sound systems & plenty of railroad DVD's that I play in my train room which gives me all the train sounds I need. I like to concentrate on running my trains & don't need all this modern day technology to boggle the mind. I'm like you pard, as I get older... I want less issues to deal with when having fun with my trains & that's the bottom line, FUN!!! Nice layout!

  • so this layout is dcc or not i dont get it cause if it is not dcc its shit

  • what controller are you using this layout is so good
