Possibly the only, and grooviest, of 60s soul icons to cover and totally appreciate GARAGE MUSIC! Talk about polar opposites coming together with wild Maybelle showing us how it's done. She also goes cheerily nuts with her thrilling version of "Black is Black."

I think that this song was originally written by Rudy Martinez (aka "?"), circa 1962 in Bay City, Michigan and first released on obscure Pa-Go-Go label, picked up by Cameo Records for national distribution and in 1966 peaking at #22 on Billboard hot 100. Big Maybelle, recorded this in her 1967 album, "America's Queen Mother of Soul: Got a Brand New Bag." Both Aretha Franklin and Jimmy Ruffin did a very soulful renditions of this song.
