North Texas' "UNT Fight Song"

FS #38; FSV# 34.
Another of the Sun Belt fight songs I have-I just want to give some recognition to ALL conferences of the NCAA D-1. Whatever the nickname, "Mean Green" or "Eagles," this is the fight song of just one university.

If anyone's curious, here are the original lyrics by Francis Stroup, back when it was North Texas State Teachers College:

Let's give a cheer for North Texas State,

Cheer for the Green and White,

Victory's in store, but whate'er the score,

Men with a purpose true,

Playing the game for the honor and fame of North Texas State and you.

We drag out the white "Cheer of the green and whiiiiite". And on the striving for victory we go Striving for Victory and on the extra count we throw our hands up in a V and shout Victory!

A great fight song, composed about 80 years ago by North Texas student Frances Stroup. But this arrangement, which has unfortunately been around for decades now, ruins the song. It doesn't fit the lyrics, unless you sing, for example, "cheer for the green and whi-hi-hi-hite" and "striving for victoree-hee-hee-hee-heeheehee­-hee".
