Joe Grand of Grand Idea Studios has designed another very cool gadget for Parallax Electronics. The Emic2 text to speech module. It available from Parallax Electronics. http://www.parallax.com/StoreSearchRe...
In this video I explain the basics of usage with an Arduino micro controller, and reveal some ideas I have for a project with the Emic2. This project will be in four parts so stay tuned.

BEST Speech module ever!! :D I hate these masses of samplebased TTS Systems and i really prefer the REAL synthesized voices. They have just something very special and pure electronic.

Nice module, but expensive. A Raspberry Pi with something like the free Linux programs Festival or Flite installed would do the same for text to speech, and many other things, for half the money (for the Raspberry Pi Model A).

I don't get why people like that old IBM PC compatible computer speech. When I brought my ZX Spectrum back in 1984 there was an American computer for sale that had natural voice where you choose female or male speech. Can't remember what computer it was maybe a Texas Instrument

So who is the person who actually sat down and voiced all of the phonetics? Is this actual speech that is pieced together or has the speech been electronically disguised?
