Jesus helped everyone, yes. But he did it voluntarily, not because the government threatened to jail him if he didn't. This doesn't make him a crazy liberal Jew, it makes him a strongly conservative Jew. The liberals would be the ones who never helped anyone, but did pay their taxes.

@jmrail I don't follow why you responded this way. It seems you're under the impression that the non-government organizations that lift people out of poverty instead of keeping them alive but still in poverty only help those who sign some agreement to a belief statement - is that what you think?

If so, you're badly mistaken. These non-government organizations help everyone regardless of belief or background.

For every one of the problems you listed, there's non-government organizations that are run (per statistics) in large part by conservatives who see helping neighbors as a personal responsibility, not something to be outsourced to the government and paid for by taxes collected by threatening people with jail if they don't pay them.

Conservatives pay their taxes that pay for government programs that fail at pulling people out of poverty, AND also give their time and money to causes that succeed.

@jmrail Thanks - Project 1.27 is great. We've worked with them and they're really helping in big ways. What about the kids with parents? Joshua Station is a non-government organization that does more good to help those in real need much more than any government program.

Government programs tend to help people in poverty, but non-government organizations are more able/willing to help get people out of poverty, because politicians stand to benefit by having people dependent on the government.

@Unhindered wow i did not know of project 1.27 that is a good cause.but it only is a mini drop in solving the orphan problem.what of the ones with parents,parents that mainly provide love but food.education,housing etc is more then a struggle.yet ken wants to remove govt safety nets.children that go to bed hungry come from all ethnic groups .senior citizens as well.families will cope with children and grandparents . what of family values ??
