There was a rumor going around last week that former WWE Diva Trish Stratus had declined a WWE invitation to appear at WrestleMania in the Divas battle royal match because she wasn't going to win. The article we posted on this website stated: It is believed that the concept of the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania was born out of the big reaction Trish Stratus received when they were in Toronto for Raw last December. They figured to follow it up with her at the annual show, under the guise of bringing a number of female performers back. Unfortunately for company officials, Stratus, Amy "Lita" Dumas and Wendi Richter — the three big names they wanted to bring back — all declined. In Richter's case, it is believed that at her age, she didn't want to be put in a position to be embarrassed body wise by being compared to the women of today. Richter is 47 years old and understandably looks nothing like she how she used to look during her heyday in the mid-1980s. Stratus must have peeved some people off during negotiations as there were some negative things said about the seven-time Women's Champion amongst management during WrestleMania weekend over her not being there

In an interview with Slam Wrestling, Trish said her decision to skip the show had nothing to do with the fact that she wasn't going to win the match.

Simply, there were no finishes, no 'What's going to happen? Will I win?' discussed," she said. "It was just, 'Would you like to be in this 25-woman battle royal at WrestleMania,' and I said, 'Thank you but I'm going to decline.'

She added, Ive always said to come out of retirement is a big deal to me so if I was to come out it is for something special," she said "To be honest, I feel Wrestlemania is a place to create memorable moments in ones career and frankly, with 25 women in the ring, I was just not sure how anyone could come out having their 'Wrestlemania moment,' maybe if it was a little clearer that could be accomplished for someone, I would have been a part of it.

When asked if she'd return to WWE one day she said, If I were to go back, I would like to do something that is new and fresh, there are so many girls right now that can work, Id want to be able to mix it up with someone I hadnt gotten the chance to before I left." Trish named Natalya Niedhart as a potential opponent that could drwa her back into the ring. "Oh my god, I would love to work with her," Stratus revealed. "I think she has so much potential; theyve just got to do the right thing with her, especially with the built-in history. I get excited when I think about what they can do with her.

  • im sorry nooooo kelly has made no improvements. she sucks bad. the other divas just let her win lmfao

  • Leave trish alone she can decline if she want to she already did alot for the wwe n her fans love u trish always will ur great

  • @wwe0chick5 SHUT UP!! KELLY AND EVE HAVE BEEN IMPROVING!!

  • wrestlemania diva matches now just suck and i hate how they released the kinda good divas and kept kelly eve and the bellas kinda of:( i dont really enjoy the diva matches now a days.

  • I read an interview Trish did once, and she said she declined because she wanted to watch WrestleMania at home with her family. It's also pretty obvious WWE didn't have a game plan for that match and didn't care. Ever since Trish left, the WrestleMania women's matches have been "let's see how many hotties we can cram in" affairs. WM 23 and 24 were lumberjill matches, 25 was a battle royal and 26 was a 10-woman tag match.

  • She probably declined because it wasnt her style, trish likes a challange, and she worked really hard. If u take a look at the roster, mr mcmanpervert has all these models wrestling, take maria for example, kelly kelly, all those other people who are just good for their looks, eye candy.

  • I honestly agree.

  • I thought it was disrespectful as well, even out of wrestling...I find it disrespectful. Santina/o should be banned from the WWE. I do like Santino, but not that much.
