God, talk about being calm under pressure! A computer kills all members of the crew including your best friend and leaves you in a pod stranded out in space. I would be going insane yet this guy is completely calm!

Interesting point of view!

My interpretation is that HAL couldn't accept being caught in an error and the consequences that were coming because of it. And so, like the primates earlier, he too became "human" by learning how to kill.
