Heaven in Your Arms, The Finale.
Joe closed his eyes, still having Demi in his Arms. She weeped and cried, forgetting about how mad she was. She couldn't bare being strong in front of him, just looking at him makes her feel weak and guilty. But as she stopped crying, he lifted her chin up and stared intently into her glistering eyes, "Don't Cry." He said, wiping her tears away with his thumb.
Demi pulled away and turned her face, "Shut up."
Joe smiled, "I'm sorry."
"Stop saying you're sorry!" She glared at him, but remained held in his arms.
"Sor-- I mean, umm." He stammered, looking for the right words to say.
"Let me go." Demi said, struggling to be freed from his arms.
Joe shook his head and smiled; tightening his grip and making their bodies contact even closer, "I won't." Demi blushed, her heart was racing like it did before when they were young. She could feel the amazing and yet intensifying tingles and sparks, the same ones that didn't go away, but it was stronger. She couldn't do anything, literally. He held her so close in his arms, that Demi felt crushed.
"Stop it." She requested, her voice becoming more silent.
"I can't." He smirked, "You're just too adorable."
"What the . . ." Her face was flushed, "Stop it! What about Claire?!"
Joe grew silent, "What about her?"
"I mean, I know you guys broke up-- but you're moving on way to fast! Joe, I'm still guilty. Don't deny it, I know Claire left because of me!"
"Okay, I won't deny it,"
Demi groaned.
"--but she left because she knew that I still love you, Demi! You hear that, I still love you!"
Tears were forming in her eyes once more, she didn't want to cry in the first place, she wanted to be alone, to clear everything in her mind, but she knew that she couldn't stay still, especially with a broken heart. She turned away, but Joe gently lifted her chin up, making her look at him.
"Tell me you love me, too, Demi." He said, seriously.
"I can't." She whispered.
"How come?" Joe asked, holding her arms, making a short distance between them.
"Because I don't know if I love you, too, Joe."
"What are you talking about?"
"You know what I'm talking about. I don't know if my heart has healed yet, nor do I know if it's ready to take another risk." Demi looked deeply into his eyes, "I don't know if I can still trust you."
Joe shook his head and felt his heart drop, "You can trust me again. Give me a second chance, Demi . . . " He paused, "please." he said under his breath.
Demi's tears were slowly falling as she wiped them swiftly. Her heart was telling her that she still loves him, and she knows that herself. She just isn't ready to give herself to him again, knowing that he'll someday leave and break her heart once more. But second chances are given to give a person hope, and maybe, if she gave Joe another chance, he might change. He might not leave her, he might love her more, he might be the one Demi will grow old with.
"Open this." Joe said, digging into his pocket. Once he got what he wanted, he pulled it out and showed Demi a small shiny silver box with a velvet red ribbon.
Demi hesitated for a moment, but still reached out slowly and grabbed the box. She said nothing, and continued unwrapping the small box with her trembling fingers.
She shot her head up, ". . . Joe."
Joe smiled, taking the box from her hands and opening it, revealing a silver ring with a small diamond in the middle.
"I'm not gonna marry you, okay?" Demi said, instantly.
"Well, don't say that, Demi." He smiled, taking the ring out and putting it on her finger, "It's a promise ring."
"Yes, I know it's a promise ring." She said, wiping her tears away, "but it hurts."
"What hurts?" Joe took Demi in his arms again, this time, back to back. She leaned her head on his shoulder, finally putting her hands softly on top of his.
"Love. Love hurts."
He smirked, "I know. So, will you marry me, when you're ready? I promise I won't hurt you."
" . . . This is your second chance, Joe." She smiled, pulling away and putting her arms around his neck, "Don't waste it."
He smiled and slowly leaned it. Her soft pink lips touched his' as he pulled her closer. Their lips were crashing into each other, the softness invigorating the adrenaline within. With the peaceful swooshes of the wind, she knew that she was ready to love him again. The kissed under the stars, it's glistering beams radiating their feelings for each other, making it stronger and more vibrant.
She pulled away, smiling. "I think I've found my heaven."
"Really?" he smiled, "where's your heaven?"
". . . In your Arms." She whispered, giggling, and leaning in to kiss him again.
