As an example - previous video of social activist Stephane Hessel dying led to positive comments like "good, another Jew dead," "he should have died in the Holocaust," etc before the comments/ratings were disabled. In other words a lot of internet AJE watchers are nutters so Al Jazeera blocks comments to some videos so they won't look bad. AJE is a great news source but you can't pick your viewers...

They don't have blocks on opinion pieces but have it on straight news videos which have nothing to do with opinions. Also blocks on controversial news stories ( catholic scandal)
