@DanCeekey It seems to be one of those features that manufacturers only add for higher-end radios (like leathers seats in cars or some such). e.g. as far as I can tell, the FT-950 does not have a full tuning aid, merely a SPOT function, while the FT-2000 does have a graphical Left-Right tuning aid.

well i finished the zerobeater and after a few mistakes on my part and help from chuck got it working. surprized how tough the PIC was after the way i handeled it. even an old geezer like me can build this kit.

i,m building it today and boy there are 2 close soldering connections on the lights and resister. i have to clear one bridge. the circuit board could be just a little bigger. i,m an old man, probably should have checked to see if they make smaller soldering irons. or maybe thinner solder. im useing an older radio shack soldering station, nice video
Nice video! Visual indication of zero beat with received station seems like a useful and inexpensive circuit to put into commercial radios that would help the operators (who might lack the ear to compare the received audio note with their transmitter sidetone). I wonder if an indicator like 'son of zero beat' was ever put into a commercial rig, or if not - why not?

@NG9D Thanks for the comment. I also think that an indicator like the Zerobeat device should be build in into every transceiver capable of sending and receiving CW. Why this is not the case at this moment? I don't have a clue...
