Once they got it going, it went great.
The problem with this song is that it's too complex for Bono to play with his own guitar and he basically can't keep up with the click track.

Las Vegas show were'nt that bad.........U2 need to go back to being about the music and less about the stage show.......................

I wanna punch the camermen very hard in the face,,

Music, like everything else in life, is build from trial and error. It was the first concert, they messed up, but later in this tour this song was one of the be live version they did.

fail, with a PH ;-)
hehe, hopefully, wembley 2009 will be better ;-)

By the time I saw them do this song on that tour it was just Bono and Edge doing an acoustic with it, it was brilliant. I'm pretty sure Staring At The Sun isn't on the video release of th Vegas Show, now we know why, lol.
This camera looks like B roll that somebody got their hands on, I love this type of stuff.

Ok, they are people and they are not imune to mistakes too, btw it is the first concert of popmart tour, although they should've practice the song better before..
What's really pissing me off are the people working with cameras here, worst filming never saw before! I would catch that filming better with my own hands for god sake.
btw PopMart is my favorite tour ever.

Staring at the sun is one of U2´s best songs. They played it wrong because it´s obviously a very complicated song with many layers.
This great song alone beats the last two bubble gum pop albums (All that you can leave behind and How to dismantle an atomic bomb).
I want to hear many songs from Pop on their next tour. Otherwise I´m going to be very disappointed.

I was at the U2 Popmart concert when I went to Vegas for the second time. My mom and I were in the nose bleed section but it was the best concert ever!!!!!!!!! I was age 8 or 9? 22 now
Seems Edge started the song at ~107bpm (beats per minute), whereas the album (studio) version is 139bpm. A massive difference.
Bono matched the slower tempo perfectly, but found it hard to work the chorus at that speed.
Second time Edge started playing at 162bpm (lol!), and then the song slowed to 150bpm over time.
It's a complex tune, and I think all the instruments pulling the song toward different timings, along with the very slow starting tempo, caused the confusion.
Easily done.
