This sheds some light on single payer and the bill HR 676 that if passed would provide health care for every single American. It would be healthy for our economy as well as our health.
In the first place it is unconstitutional .You have NO right to ask me to pay your ins and I have no right to ask you .Second if your congressmen and women would stop with the dumbassed earmarks ( tea museums little bridges with their names on it ) Those that truly need assistance would be covered.Children truly infirmed folks of all ages .I say this as a statement I dont ask "stay out of my pockets " if you dont like this that is your right ,it is my right not to have this foisted on me .
"single payer means everybody in and nobody out" ? no single payers means one entity provides the source of funding. In Canada there have been lawsuits brought against the government because a doctor started up a practice to provided MRI's and other medical xrays that are greatly rationed in Canada,, he operated independently of the single payers system and people self payed to get faster service, the government fined him and tried to shut him down he took the government to court,, and he won.
Any one so out of touch with reality to accept those statements as factual should have a helmet and training wheels for their own protection. They're certainly not qualified to even have an opinion on the discussion because those are all factually incorrect. I recommend a basic sociology course at your local community college. There you will cover basic stats for a more accurate view. Here they are:
You did not use my example of a monopoly. Which 1 insurer has the monopoly? Of the 45 million, only 18 million are those that can't afford, or can't get insurance due to pre-existing conditions. 27 million are: illegal immigrants, young adults that don't think they need it, or don't want it, and individuals or families that could afford it, but choose not to buy it. Fix the system for the 18 million that need it. 80% of Americans us are happy with receiving the BEST healthcare in the world.
Using your own example about monopolies, the health insurance industry is a monopoly that profits from denying health care. 45+ million uninsured Americans apparently is just fine with their bottom line, but it should be unacceptable for the rest of us.
Health care in Canada isn't free. They just pay up front directly out of their paychecks in the form of higher taxes.
A principle of economics is that monopolies are bad for consumers. A monopoly will increase prices and lower the quality of goods/service. Why do some of you think this principle won't apply to health care?
Check cancer survival rates in the US compared to single payer systems. Over 80% of America is happy with health care. Fix it for the 15%, don't wreck the system!
I am so upset that some of our local reps here in south Florida are not supporting this, when my tax dollars are flipping the bill for their health insurance. WTF I have not had health insurance for over 5 years. America needs to move forward and pass this bill to save jobs, boost our economy and frankly save lives. EVERYONE needs to contact their congressional leaders and GET THIS PASSED!
Health care costs are part of the problem we have with job out sourcing; the burden of health care is put on the workers and employers, why cant we have a hybrid type of health care, use income tax money to pay into a non profit system that will pay for coverage for all Americana and then pay back a percentage in the form of a tax refund to the tax payers that dont use the coverage.
NON PROFIT is the key to take the high cost out!!!

There's no such thing as "free health care" no matter the system. If you pay taxes your either paying for your Health Care in premiums or High Taxes.

I've contacted my representative awhile back and I was very enthused recently to see that she had signed on. Go Tammy Baldwin!
