Early Colbert Report segment on Daily Show in 2003. I think this was a proposition for Colbert to the producers for his own show. Well, the rest is history.

Captured in 2003 off my analog cable box on a DV deck.

  • @YJ4 It's about time they did! Thanks for the info

  • @fishordie2 I think the person I hate is the person using vulgar language and obscene hypothetical situations to more or less threaten a mere comedian.

  • @wolfman3902001 I got rid of that post. It was too much.

  • This commercial looks a lot older than 2003.

  • @TheRandomm4 It's not older. I had analog cable back then, and so did a lot of other people. I ran this into my DV cam OHCI passthrough to record as a DV stream. It was from a live show. And since I got the camera in 2003, and that show was live, it must be from no earlier than 2003.

  • This was a joke teaser shown during the Daily Show. Multiple were produced as a joke. Then they started taking this seriously. The rest is history.

  • The O'Reilly is really loud in these early clips...

  • "u have last word" "well" "your're a moron" I love colbert :)

  • "You're a moron" Perfect

  • More Colbert Clips from the Daily Show are on the Comedy central site for The Daily Show. They have clips from as far back as 97 when Colbert joined the cast. Check out the This Week in God clips and Even Stevphen. Hell, they are all good!

  • My favorite clip of The Daily Show ever, (and I used to watch it everyday for a while) has always been when Colbert did these fake commercials. I never thought about them as being anything more than just a little segment, but The Colbert Report as a full show has been the best idea ever. Here we are 5 years later and I'm even more a Colbert fan. Seriously, the feel-good lightness I get after his show has been a huge way of keeping me from taking life too seriously. He has only gotten better.

  • He is so talented!
