To celebrate the 2008 Pacific Year of the Reef, SPREP with key partners, is pleased to announce
challengecoralreef, a regional competition for schools to develop and implement plans to protect reefs in their local community. There are three main phases in the competition.
Saint Joseph Catholic Secondary School Tenaru from Solomon Islands out-conserved 10 other school groups from around the Pacific region to become the challengecoralreef champion. In announcing the winner of the 2008 Pacific Year of the Reef campaign competition for groups of 13-18 year old youth, SPREP Coral Reef Management Officer, Ms Caroline Vieux, was excited at results presented by a group of young, motivated, and resourceful individuals who have set an example for other Pacific islanders to follow.
Iam sooooooo proud that finally Solomon students are educated by the marine life.
