Zi8 Wide Angle Driving Test

Stock Mic (For Now), .67x MagMount Wide Angle Lens Mod, 1.06 Firmware, EIS OFF.

Stiff suspension and a very rigid cam mount can often lead to EXTREME 'jello' effects with EIS.

I was playing music on the radio, and YouTube pulled my audio as a result. I don't see any option to disable audio, so this is the audio I have. I clicked the 'i'm feeling lucky' audio swap button.

My current beef with zi8 is the poor image stabilization. Is this improved with the wide angle lens?

@SmellyGymShorts Maybe marginally... I don't use the EIS since it just causes more issues than it solves. Put it on a tripod or get/make a rigid mount and the quality is good enough. Id like to get a .5x or wider lens to try on this... Its not wide enough with the .67x!

@meanyman73 I didn't touch the video at all, this was straight off the camera. The mount is 1" square aluminum stock, cut just long enough so the two headrest poles go through it. I drilled holes for the poles on the head rests to go through the aluminum, at a slight angle so the square tube will be level. Its held in place solely by the two head rests on each side, and angle is not adjustable. Theres just a single bolt with the proper thread in the middle of it, to go in the bottom of the Zi8.

I have the same camcorder and the crispness running 720 @60fps is parallel to some others out there costing 250 or 300 bucks or more. Mine was 60 dollars at a pawn shop so It was a goof deal. I do have a major problem with image stableisation and excessive vibration as I use this for my GSXR 1000 tank mounted. Maybe I need a different mount that would minimize the vibration. Great video by the way!  Enjoyed the widescreen very much. =)

i like accords but i prefer maximas well that's not the point! how did you mount wide angle? did you buy it off usbfever?>
