South India is the area encompassing India's states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu as well as the union territories of Lakshadweep and Pondicherry, occupying 19.31% of area. South India lies in the peninsular Deccan Plateau and is bounded by the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal in the west, south and east respectively. The geography of the region is diverse, encompassing two mountain ranges — the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats and a plateau heartland. Godavari, Krishna, Tungabhadra and Kaveri rivers are important non-perennial sources of water. Inhabitants of South India are referred to as South Indians. A majority of South Indians speak one of the five Dravidian languages — Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Tulu. During its history, a number of dynastic kingdoms ruled over parts of South India whose invasions across southern and southeastern Asia impacted the history and cultures of modern nation-states such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. The region was colonised by Britain and gradually incorporated into the British Empire.
After experiencing fluctuations in the decades immediately after Indian independence, the economies of South Indian states have registered higher than national average decadal growth over the past three decades. While South Indian states have improved in some socio-economic metrices, economic disparity, illiteracy and poverty continue to affect the region much like the rest of the country. Agriculture is the single largest contributor to the regional net domestic product, while Information technology (IT) is a rapidly growing industry. Literary and architectural styles, evolved over two thousand years, differ from other parts of the country. Politics in southern India is dominated by smaller regional political parties rather than by national political parties.
South India ranks the highest in terms of social and economic development in areas such as fertility rate and infrastructure; the fertility rate of South India is 1.9, the lowest of all regions in India.

  • it was nice coverage of southern india...salute to the rich varied heritage n culture...I love you India...

  • Even I came from a grammar school, I also have studied William Shakespeares's literature a part of my O level syllabus and its plays for drama & theatre, and that doesn't proves anything about someone's proficiency in the relevant language. And off course I DIDN"T STUDY IT ALLLLLLLLLLL MY LIFE.

    No Thank you!!I don't want u to make me stupid, perhaps, just take care of yourself of not being a bragging arrogant fool.

    well-well!! your abusive terms explains your up bringing and culture.

  • {im gonna tell u something ur f***ed in the headd}

    perhaps your comments explains it clearly who's in need of a psychiatric consultation.!

    {ur telling me i need to learn ENGLISH?}

    CONTRADICTING!! again very well indeed u have proved that u need learn to understand English, read my previous replies.. I said, u need to LEARN TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH ADEQUATELY, instead of your charges of "need to learn English" which is a two different context.

  • There u go... u didn't get it!!! and all u can think of is an abusive term and nothing else, Indeed..serpents spat will never be a nectar, yet u r arrogant and making fool of yourself, first learn to understand English adequately. I think it is unfair for the nation to grant a refugee status to a bogus asylum seeker like yourself.

    Even yogurt is cultured and yourself?? Pathetic!!

  • LOL..it is not even a word, it is an acronym, nevertheless. STU!

  • yeah well, your language explains it in detail your background of your religious knowledge, adherence and morals.

    all that abusive words " no thanks!! u may have it back"

  • it i u who have a attitude of arrogance and denial, that u knew everything and recriminate others. if u have one then first ask the wise gurus.

  • as such she doing all da leela vinotham - playfully on the lap of siva (kaameswara-kameswaraanga nilaya-sri paraa-battaarika-lalitha tripurasundari -rajarajeswari paradevata srimaatha)

    bhrama also can't alter ur fate nor could giv u liberation.

    last but not least try to understand and scrutinise the phrase"LIVE UNFOLDS LIKE THE PERPECTUAL DANCE OF SIVA THE CREATOR" this is a unique conclusion.

    try to listen again the above clip from the 03.28 to 03.50 carefully and u decide..

  • Bhramais a demi-god not a supreme- god/soul/paramaatma, he is one of the 330 million demi-gods. he will be superseded but the parabhramam(could be siva, vishnu or uma) are perpectual according to veda

    Bhrama is obeying the duty but he is not the aathi devata or prathi athi devata or kaarana kartha. even in shakta belief according Rudra yaamalam, lalithaagama, the chatur shasthi kohdi yoginis (640 million) involve in the entire creation duties, lalitha doing is not alone only along with siva

  • [when portraying a religion to the western world.. its worthwhile presenting accurate information] exactly!!! that's my point.

    first u forward my comment and the comment by the above commentator to a ardent/true saivate or hindu scholar and prove it that the above statement were in-accurate or flaw

    the fact is, his statement are much more accurate which at the end will conclude the hindu philosophy into monotheism.

    instead of novice theory of bhrama..vishnu..etc
