Remembering the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 432ND Tactical Reconnaissance Wing Stationed at Udorn RTAFB Thailand during the Vietnam War. My father was a member and had been Missing In Action since 1-17-67

In one of his final letters home, a few days before his loss, he wrote that he had been singing Waiting On A Train by Jimmie Rodgers and playing an old guitar he found. He promised that when he got home he would play and we kids would sing like we did before he left. Another song he sang to us was Cool Water, also included here. It has been over 42 years since he left us to go over there.
We still miss him.

  • Your family carries the cost of freedom in a very personal way. We shall alway be indebted to your family's sacrifice for America's freedoms and liberties. Because your father came from the land called America; we are able to say we are the home of the brave. Scoat

  • Our hearts go out to your family for your loss; all that your family, our families, friends families, and their descendants experience in a free society such as America; is solely because of men like your father.

  • Ordlie 155. I was on the ground with the 101st, and know first hand the warm feeling that comes over a grunt when our birds are in the air. The pucker factor lessens, and a look of "Now they'll wish they were back in Hanoi" is exchanged between brothers on the ground.

  • Ordie155,

I was stationed at Udorn, although it was a bit after your Dad. Your slide show and music made me feel like I was there again ... and that's a good thing.

Thank you and God bless your father and all your family.

  • Good job Gary, good job!
