This is a test of particle physics and collision detection in Blender 3D (v. 2.48a). I am currently working on a fully 3D animated music video for "Project Q.S." and as I was story-boarding it I realized that I was going to need to learn and understand applying fire, smoke, explosions and etc. in Blender using particle physics. My next test will be utilizing nodes for even more control and increasing the realism of the effects. This is a very early test, and figured that I would share.

It's basically a flamethrower on the little "blender monkey".

  • well, good luck with it

  • yep visual effects is what I'm using it for...could be used for games as well, but I'm not much of a gamer anymore, so I'm currently not interested in game dev.

  • but i mean: what use of this is there? only visual effects for music videos?

  • yes, will be in HD (1080), may be posted in 720 here on youtube.....in the far future when finally finished.

  • more of a music video probably going to end up being 10-15 minutes long, somewhat of an invasion, some of the details are getting worked out (art/animation style, music, storyboard)..... been caught up with a different animated sitcom project which is composed of 3d backgrounds, but all characters are 2d hand-drawn. That has put this project a bit on the back burner. Some models in 3d have been made, recently did some sketches and recruited a few other musicians to work out the music score.

  • and what is this exactly about?

creating a video game? or programming?

    HD testing?

  • thanks!, it's in a very early stage of modeling and writing the music score.....this test was for a robots arm (very quickly done) that may or may not have a flamethrower. definitely needs more work, and waiting for the new blender 2.5 to compare it's new particle setup and abilities.

  • good luck progressing!

  • read the info, that can help ya...just a test for a future project

  • wtf was this???
