The bop was a a transitional dance. If the girl liked you, you could move to a slow drag and if the dance went well, you could grind. Never in the presence of parents under the blue lights of the basement. When you did, party was over.

This was called the Bop in the 60's in D.C. Back in the day there were two ways of slow dancing in D.C. - the grind and the Bop. The grind was done at house parties in the basement in the dark and in the corner at high school dances. (smile.) The Bop was done in front of Mom and Dad, in public, or with someone you didn't want to get that close with. Now that we are older, we mostly bop. Although occasionally you will see two 60 year old's doing the grind. I wasn't allowed to grind !!!!
:|.. this is not the bop.. the bop is a minimal contact dance. :|
