I suggest a listen to the true non overdubbed original recording. A lot of the overdubs Norman Petty did in the 1960's are somewhat heavy handed and tend to obscure the original home/garage recordings. It's widely assumed this was recorded by Buddy to please his mom, Ella, who really liked the song. Cheers
