Dismal sales from mall-based apparel chains offered more fresh evidence that American consumers, spooked by the financial meltdown, shut their wallets tight last month. The AP's Mark Hamrick reports. (Oct. 9)
YA THESE AIG JERKS SHOULD BE IN JAIL!!! SPENDING $400 THOUSAND dollars on a retreat for the executives AFTER the government bailed them out!!! THEY SHOULD ROT IN HELL!!
I am not that sure it would help in paying off our national debt. Politicians are addicted to other peoples money and there are only two choices for them. Borrow and spend or tax and spend. People don't seem willing to put up with tax and spend so our government is likely to continue to borrow and spend.
American consumers SHOULD shut their wallets. Quit buying on credit! Pay off your *&#@$ and get out of personal debt... so we can start paying off our national debt.

No need to spend right now; chances are you will not be employed much longer. K
