The sour grapes merchants on here claiming England cheated are plainly unaware of the rules of the game. The fact is if the ref awards a goal that is it end of story. Similarly if the ref misses a blatant handball and the attacking team score then it's tough shit for the defending team. Geoff Hurst scored a fourth goal anyway. Germany were sore losers, they even took the match ball home.

Without the munich air crash, i believe England could have won it in 58-62-66 and perhaps 70s. Duncan Edwards was the best player in history of football. I am convinced after all those big football players on his team and from other teams have said exactly the same things about that lad. A true marvel in the game of football. Sir, you are so correct. England might have done better in the 1958 World Cup if the Munich Air Crash hadn't happened. Duncan Edwards, Tommy Taylor, Roger Byrne, David Pegg - to name but a few who might have played for England in 1958.
