Beyond the fact that C02 emissions and forestation are at unprecedented levels, a a great portion of the fossil fuels are bought from militant states such as Sudan and Iran. Beyond guaranteeing economic independence from potential future enemies, the fear that human development will speed our downfall has encouraged progress in solar and nuclear technologies, technologies which have are close to limitless in potential as opposed to the radically shrinking fossil fuel supplies. We do not need any green technology's that we don't already implement... Sure more solar, wind and water energy wouldn't hurt our cause, but the reality is, perpetual economic downsizing by decreasing productivity throughout all world governments that will ensure lowered population trends. This is EXTREMLY self evident if you can just connect the dots. ( Greatest collective scientific knowlege + collaboration for common goals + Happy people = Perfect World ) Not in my lifetime!!!

You said that reducing the carbon emotions in fuel by will send human populations into a new dark age? how exactly will that happen? relying on one technology is primitive, humans should not rely on one technology but instead we should rely on many. wind, solar, and geothermic energies are good things advancing and diversifying human technologies.
