Guinness World Record - Four Guys and a Stool!

Four sword-swallowers in a mad attempt to break a Guinness World Record: The most sword-swallowers to swallow the same object simultaneously.

The previous unofficial record was established when two sword-swallowers swallowed the 'business' ends of two sword blades welded together.

This "Sword-Swallowing Dream Team" met up at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on the August 21st 2007. They are:

Thomas Blackthorne - Who created the stunt and who currently holds four Guinness World Records. Search for "YTTB" on YouTube for his other videos.

Space Cowboy - One of the two creators of the previous double-sword record. Also the first man to sword swallow in a shark tank!

Captain Frodo - Best known for his side-splitting Incredible Rubberman act, the Captain is currently traveling the world, appearing in La Clique.

Gordo Gamsby - The newest performer in the team but fast becoming 'the guy to watch out for". Recently featured in The League of Sideshow Superstars.

The act was performed as a guest spot between the amazing beatbox, percussion and acrobatic acts by the guys of the TomTom Club.
The audience was a genteel Tuesday night crowd who let their hair down to become a raucous party beast!

Depends what you count: Try to name over 50 people whose main activity is sword-swallowing. Even the SSAI's official list names many who once swallowed or can but do other stuff etc. 50 is about right for pro sword swallowers.

Ha! This man did not "make it up": it's my estimate of the number of professional sword swallowers and I reckon I was being pretty generous. I wasn't going to split hairs in the middle of a show.

Anyway, what IS guaranteed is that the three guys I had with me were top pros and put in a great performance for a very difficult swallow.

I had originally planned to have someone sitting on the stool but it would have been too dangerous - it was hard enough getting the four of us in such a small space around the barstool.

Oh yeah, they still have to factor in their own safety since if there's a screw up they would have to retire from sword swallowing if it wasn't a bad as one of them dying! O_o

I think it's around 20 kg (I don't remember the exact number to the tenth) is the most that has been swallowed with a weight of a sword. I'm sure if you wait long enough they'll be a few of them that will get together to go for the extreme.

I wonder how the set up would be though...

Sit the person on the stool, lift, and require that she DOESN'T MOVE. And I guess about 20 kg would be young kid, although maybe with several people it's possibly easier distributing weight? :?
