Extremely Close Lightning Strike - Brisbane, Australia (16/03/2009)

I was on my front deck (Hawthorne) recoding the severe afternoon thunderstorms that popped up out of the blew on this hot 30 degree C March Brisbane afternoon.

I was lucky to capture one of the closest lightning strikes I have ever seen.

It actually hit a tree in the backyard of a house across the street from Me.

I love it when the cameraman is so startled by the enormous boom, it's reflected in the sudden jell-o like camera instability.
