The drop cast is a simple cast yet very effective in getting your nymph to sink faster and have much less drag. An effective tool for any advanced fisherman and a must use for nymph fishing.

  • always good when you catch a fish. I would just like to add that keeping in contact with your fly is a key part of fishing, and often times fish take your fly and you have no idea. If in doubt, strike. Also, work those legs, more than often your clumsy waiding will spook the fish, and you need to move to the next hole if you feel you spooked the hole. Alot of the times, 1 cast will scare them from feeding. Big rivers like this one hide fish behind rocks for you so 5-6 casts is approate.
