Pecking Order

They say pigeons mate forever but after a year and several hatchings, Big Daddy seemed to disappear! Big Mama continued feeding the last baby and I would see her perched gazing at the big sky. This is urban living in the wild, who knows what could have become of him! She fought off any birds that came into her space. Suddenly one day I saw this new bird, another blue bar. He was not too happy having the kid around and here you see him trying to peck baby out of the nest! I didn't like to see it so you see the window shake when I knock attempting to drive him off! Eventually, however he will succeed and the baby will move to an adjacent pot. Then Mama and her new beau will settle in and soon start a new family. Nature can be cruel!

Nature CAN be cruel sometimes. I am glad the new male only chased the young one away!!
