  • Theest probably sound more like WS than those English actors. They all went to a few select boarding schools that developed their own upper class accent during the late 1800s, most working class people in the England still speak with dialects. In the SW England were I be from a lot of old folks sound mighty like you boys from the South. Check out some of favourites - you'll see what I mean.

    Cheers, J

  • I got the idea from something that happened in high school. For my senior English class, we were required to memorize this speech and recite it to the teacher. I managed to get every single word correct from memorization, but my teacher could hardly keep herself from laughing due to my west Texas accent. I'm pretty sure that is not the way Shakespeare intended for his words to sound. My accent has faded somewhat over the years, but she definitely had cause to laugh.

  • @DiamondCutter19 Etymologically speaking, "real" rednecks only live in West Virginia.

  • "Rednecks" only live in Kansas, those so-called "Kentucky-rednecks" are generically called "hillbillies" !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • supposedly, if you go to charleston, that is closer to what shakespear's actually accent was. i don't know, but that is what i heard in a college humanities class. i would think some of the appalachian way of speaking sound more old fashioned to me. i love the south though.

  • Sounds more interesting this way.
