It's a pity you chose to demonstrate the power of panels just to fill them with "test"... Panels seems like a powerful tool with a powerful UI that undoubtedly has many uses - yet the example failed to captivate me.
Why not set up a goal first: a page to show say latest news, or twitter feeds, then show us how to use panels to build a great starting combination. Or show us some of the finished panels of your site, to get an idea of the range of possibilities!
