democracynow.org - Democracy Now! correspondent Sharif Abdel Kouddous is the central character in the new HBO documentary airing tonight, "In Tahrir Square: 18 Days of Egypt's Unfinished Revolution." The film chronicles the uprising though the reporting of Kouddous and it looks at what the protest meant for his uncle, Mohamed Abdel Quddoos, a longtime Egyptian dissident who was arrested dozens of times by the Mubarak regime. We're joined by Kouddous in Cairo, as well as the team behind the film: Jon Alpert and Matthew O'Neil of Downtown Community Television; and independent filmmaker Jacquie Soohen of Big Noise Films.

  • when americans are earning a dollar day we'll see this too

  • @Roxxar5 I believe that your one true responsibility in a democracy is to vote. Voting should be compulsory.

  • How can the world see capitalism as the best on the table when communist China owns so much and US debt. Democracy is a lie and a illusion

  • @ibullpitt true. but democracy is another system that is failing when corrupted. we honestly need a new system where there is no central government; we need system run by the people and no officials. united states had the right idea with the republic system by it has been infiltrated because we have not excercise our rights and took responsibility.

  • Sometimes we forget what democracy takes to win and maintain. Principled and courageous individuals are the instigators and keepers of democracy.
